I have called you by name!

Every once in a while we experience the intimacy of our God. The readings this weekend allow us this glimpse. We forget how intimately connected we are to our God. Isaiah suggests that even though we don’t know our God as we know our mothers and fathers, that same God has called us by name and given us our title. There is only one God, there is no other. That same God knows each of us personally by name.

One challenge of a pastor is to know the names of his or her parishioners. I am challenged by this. After a few meetings with you I usually have little problem remembering your name. Sorry if you have to keep reminding me. It is important not only for us to get to know each other, but that our God knows us intimately, bringing great comfort to me and I hope to you. Where ever I am this day, whatever my feelings, who ever I meet, my God is there to journey with me. That is comforting and hopeful!

I pray that each of us may continue to be that example of love and intimacy for each other. We trust in that same presence of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Blessings,

Fr. Tom
